Chapter 4

The Power Of The Resurrection

Resurrection is the rising from the dead, the resuming of life. It's the alchemy of death which turned a contemptible situation into something precious. The resurrection is the very heart of Christianity.

Unfortunately, many people believe the crucifiction was the most wicked event in history. They fail to see the jewel in the midst of the debri. Did God forsake His Son, His children, letting the forces of evil win over the forces of good? Was the crucifixion the end of God's plan for salvation and eternal life?

Those who do not believe in the resurrection, believe Christ was left to rot in the tomb of death. But the Gospels say that God is not a God of the dead, but of the living, and Jesus said "I am the resurrection and the life."

Paul asked, "How can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not risen. And if Christ has not risen, then our preaching is in vain (it amounts to nothing) and your faith is devoid of truth and fruitless (without effect, empty, imaginary, and unfounded)."

The denial of Christ resurrecting, you are still under the control and penalty of sin, and your faith is a mere mirage. I agree without question, when Paul said, "But the fact is that Christ has been raised from the dead, and He became the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep (in death)." Those who fail to believe Christ has risen, will fail to be delivered over to the kingdom of God, the Father. They will render inoperative, for they have abolished the authority and power of God.

How Do We Resurrect?

The physical body does not resurrect, (come to life after death), it decays and perishes; ashes to ashes, dust to dust. But the spiritual body does and it's imperishable, immune to decay, and it's raised from the dead by the glory, the Spirit of God. The first man (Adam) was made from out of the earth, from dust, and he was a living being with an individual personality and an earthly mind. The second Adam (Christ) became a life giving Spirit, Who restored death to life, came from out of heaven, and He is heavenly minded.

Since God is a life giving God, He gives eternal salvation to those who want to partake in eternal life. That which decays cannot inherit or share in the kingdom of God, nor can the perishable share in the immortal. Those who are immortal shall not fall asleep in death, they will be transformed, in a moment, a twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet call.

Christ died and returned to life to free us from death. When we bear the image of God, the Man from heaven, death will literally be swallowed up in victory forever. When you put on the imperishable nature of God, you'll be incapable of dying. For "Sin is the sting of death, and sin exercises its power (upon our soul) through (the abuse of) the Law. But thanks be to God, Who gives us victory (making us conquerors) through our Lord Jesus Christ" (I Corinthians 15:56-57).

Christ paved the way, through the crucifixion, to be rid of death. We received victory the night of Christ's death, for it abolished the wrong and corrupt use of the Law. Christ must rein until all His enemies are put under His feet, for God put all things in subjection under Him. The last enemy to be broken and destroyed is death.

Every day Christ works within our body, destroying unto death the corporeal scourges, raising to life our right mind. Dying to self, we receive a body God sees fit, resurrected in strength and endued with power. As surely as we die daily, we are restored from death to life, so that we may live eternally in Christ's exemplary body.

What Happened After Christ's Death? Jesus died and on the third day He rose from death, defeating death for all of us. He then appeared to Peter, then showed Himself to more than five hundred people at one time. Scripture says that afterward He was seen by James, then by all the apostles, the special messengers, last of all He appeared to Paul.

"Jesus Himself took His stand among them and said to them, Peace (freedom from all distress that are experienced as the result of sin) be to you!" He said that all authority and power in heaven and earth had been given to Him; thus go and make disciples of all the nations. Preach openly and publish the good news to every creature of the whole human race, baptizing them into the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

He said that whoever believes and is baptized will be saved from the penalty of eternal death, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. After He was done speaking, He blessed them and He went up and into heaven, and He sat down at the right hand of the Father.

The author of Ephesians wrote "Even when we were dead (slain) by (our own) shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; (He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for) it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation). (See passage 2:5-7).

Because of God's great mercy, He brought us to life with Christ and raised us up with Him to rule with Him in the heavenly realm. And Paul said in Romans 6:4, "Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious (power) of the Father, so we too might (habitually) live and behave in a new way of life."

Of course, those who do not believe will find ways to deny the powerful evidence that has been sent forth; even the power performing wonders He has done for them this very day. But those who do believe, their soul will be infused with joy and the expectation of resurrection life. If you do not believe in the new birth, or resurrection, you are not a believer.

The resurrection is faith's greatest triumph! It encompasses God's promises; the ones that say He will not forsake us; that He will go to any length to reconcile us to Himself. It set loose a power that abridged troubled waters, a love that is so terrible it explodes into the heart of our emotions and makes us lovable to God.

Jesus came into the world to bring home God's lost children; to revive them and restore them to their right condition. He came to raise in honor and glory what had been sown in dishonor and humiliation; to resurrect in strength and endue with power, that which has been sown in infirmity and weakness. The resurrection sets free the carnal nature of bondage, decay and corruption, and raises us into the glorious freedom of God. And as you are being raised into heavenly dignity, all things will be revealed, and you will eat and enjoy the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

God's divine plan for salvation canceled the sins of Adam and Eve, enabling us to be one with Him again. He came and shed His light upon all things, the radiant light that panics satan and his demons, which gave us the privilege to put him under our feet - under our authority. The rising of Christ left within the human heart, resurrection power, simply for those who believe.

Hope is found in the resurrection, through the scars, the healed wounds of Jesus. Because He bled and died for us, we can have hope that when the heartbreak of defeat, the loss of a loved one, the tribulations of life, will heal and leave only a scar as proof that we have walked through the shadow of death and survived.

Although the mark may be permanent, through the healing of Jesus, the wound, the burn, the break will become but a memory. Only a blemish will remain as proof of re-attachment. In time it will become simply a sign of what once was, a fixed reference guide to indicate the quality of God's work. A cross symbolizing Christ's signature which gives merit to the horrible event that took place one crucifixion eve.

The resurrection gives us healing strength, knowing that the One Who loves us most went up against the most violent torture, to save His dearly beloved ones. He made a heavenly way to fulfill His plan in other bodies, by re-creating bodies in the body of Christ. He gave us a new beginning, a new heaven and earth, a new life in Him.

God wants you healed and whole and happy. He wants you healed so you can take your healed wounds along with the knowledge you gained into the world and heal others. Spreading Jesus' therapeutic cure, you are fulfilling the goal of your heart, the goal in which Jesus came to restore within your spirit.

Up until Christ Jesus, the whole of creation had been moaning together in pain, yearning to be made known as God's sons. We too had been condemned to frustration - now there is no condemnation for those who live in union with Christ Jesus. We have total victory through Him, and nothing can separate us, nothing in the universe can keep us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus.

Jesus did His job then left, now its up to us to do ours. Every time you help the hungry, the poor, the prisoner, the bedraggled, you are doing it for God. He came upon the earth and placed His loving touch upon every afflicted soul, you will find Him in the poorist of hearts. He is the shepherd and we are the flock, and He told Isaiah that the poor will find pasture and feed in His meadow, and the needy will lie down in safety.

When you go out into the world and feed the hungry and heal the sick, you will find God's pasture and feed in His meadow and lie down in safety. Then you will have glimpsed upon the way heaven shall be, when every wound is healed, every heartache is mended, and every lost hope has been restored. You will then be in His pasture when Christ returns - when God's kingdom appears in the fullness of radiance.

Upon Jesus' first coming, He did not come to fix the problems of the world, rather, to take upon Himself and bear as a burden the sins of many; the afflictions, the weight upon our shoulders. He came to restore to the memory of what God and His kingdom is like, and to transform our earthly body into His heavenly body. He came to break the fear of death off you, the fear that has kept you peril, exposed to the belief that danger, harm, and injury are near.

I am delighted to say, that I look forward to the Second coming of Christ, the last and final coming, for then all sickness and heartbreak will cease. And He WILL appear a second time, but not to carry or deal with our sins, but to bring the full salvation to those who are eagerly and patiently waiting and expecting Him. Meanwhile, we must prepare ourselves by working to become more like Christ, by continually reflecting upon the Words in the New Testament as a pattern of what His image portrays.

Intrestingly, the last book in the new testament, Revelations, is quite different than the others. It contains the revelations of the speedy triumph of the kingdom of God, and the Monarchy of Christ. It imparts visions, descriptions, images and symbols that today's reader may find difficult to understand. But it is the heart of the message, the matter with which the whole of the Good Book is chiefly concerned.

The Scripture's clearly points to Revelations, proclaiming that Christ will return to rule over the world, a kingdom that is as free as the days of Adam and Eve; a place where there are no tears, no disease, no death. And yes, He will return from heaven with His mighty angels in a flame of fire, to be glorified by His saints, and to live eternally with, in and among us.

The resurrection gives us a mouthwatering sample of what the grapes in the garden's vineyard will taste like; a slice of the mystery of the universe. The day of Christ's rising sealed the promise, that soon God will open up the heavens and once again come down and meet with us, and enhance the glory of His miracle rising universally forever. The Resurrection gives us a glimplse of how much God's love for us really is. Yes, a glimpse. There are no words to express God's love! That is why He wants an Intimate relationship with you, so you can learn to love the way He loves, and what a endearing, heart warming love that is. Within the resurrection are your hopes and dreams. Therefore claim His death, burial, and resurrection as your own, so your hopes and dreams can rise above your expectations.

Paul's Conclusion:

"And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. (1 Cor. 15:14-20).
